WHITE PIGEON, Mich. — Keith E. “Lefty” Sweazy, 79, died Friday, June 13, 2012, at his home following an extended illness.
He was born Aug. 30, 1932 in Elkhart, Ind., to Robert and Hazel (Ruh) Sweazy. He married Alice F. Griffin on June 17, 1972, in White Pigeon.
She survives, as do daughters Linda (Tom) Wilson of Elkhart, Valerie St. Germain of Chicago, Sharrise (Mike) McCrorey of Elkhart and Trina (Steve) Boatman of Mottville; son Jeff (Nancy) Sweazy of Elkhart; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; siblings Becky Sweazy and Tom Sweazy, both of Traverse City; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
He played minor league baseball for the Milwaukee Braves. He worked in the RV industry and was a woodworker for J-Mar Design, Elkhart, for 20 years.
Cremation has taken place. Graveside services and burial of cremains will be at 4 p.m. Friday, July 27, 2012, at Mottville Township Cemetery. An open house will follow at his home.
