GOSHEN — Two people were taken to IU Health Goshen after a crash south of Goshen just before 11 a.m. Monday.

According to the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department, a minivan was stopped on U.S. 33, just south of Fairfield High School, facing south. The van then attempted a U-turn in order to go north on U.S. 33.

As the van turned, it was struck on the left side by a semitrailer that was driving south.

The driver of the minivan was taken to the hospital complaining of neck pain, while the driver of the semi had back pain. According to officials, the injuries did not appear to be serious.

A passenger in the van ran from the scene on foot and was not found by police.
