Police identify victim of July 7 fatal crash west of Elkhart

Fearnow
The Elkhart County Coroner’s Office identified the man as Matthew Gus Fearnow, 34, of Elkhart, by using fingerprint identification and comparisons, according to a press release from the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department.
Officers responded to the crash on Old U.S. Highway 20 east of C.R. 1 shortly before 4 a.m. A 1995 Toyota Corolla had been traveling east on Old U.S. 20 when it ran off the south side of the road, struck a parked truck in a driveway and then hit a tree at 29468 Old U.S. 20. The car became engulfed in flames, and the driver, unidentified at that time, received severe burns to his entire body.
The coroner’s office used fingerprint identification and comparisons to identify Fearnow.
Service arrangements have been set through Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., where visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Adamsville Cemetery in Edwardsburg, Mich.
