Forty-six entries marched in the annual Homecoming parade, and people found shady spots to sit and watch along the main street.
“It’s hot, very hot, but we had a decent turnout for the parade,” said Homecoming committee president Jon Riggs.
“We come to the parade every year,” said Camie Green. “Usually we are in it, but now my daughter is old enough that she wants to catch candy.”
“We were lucky because we didn’t know the rides were shut down Thursday night, but we went last night for wristband day, and the rides were perfect for kids,” Green said. “There’s no way we could have missed the parade. The kids would have been heartbroken.”
After the parade, the festival rides started up and organizers got ready for the pie-in-the-face auction and a bicycle giveaway.
Fireworks were planned Saturday night to close the day’s festivities.
