One dead from crash south of New Paris

According to the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department, a pick-up truck pulling a travel trailer was headed south on S.R. 15 when it ran off the road south of C.R. 50 at about 9 a.m., hitting a tree and sliding into a ditch on the west side of S.R. 15.
Steven Eigsti, 21, of Warsaw was a passenger in the truck and trapped in the truck after the accident. Police needed to extract Eigsti from the truck. He was pronounced dead at the scene from injuries.
Brandon Eigsti, 25, of Warsaw was driving the truck and sustained bleeding from the nose from the crash.
According to the crash report, Brandon Eigsti was wearing a seat belt, while Steven Eigsti was not.
The Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the incident.
