ELKHART — A driver died in an early morning accident today, July 7, after crashing into a parked truck and a tree on Old U.S. 20, according to the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department.

The driver, who has not been identified, was headed east on Old U.S. 20, east of C.R. 1, at 3:48 a.m. and ran off the south side of the road. The driver’s 1995 Toyota Corolla struck a tree and the front end of an unoccupied 2008 Chevrolet Silverado parked in a driveway at 29468 Old U.S. 20.

The Elkhart County Crash Investigation Team responded to the accident.

The driver’s name will be released once the victim is identified by the Elkhart County coroner.
