BENTON — Brothers Brad and Zach Newcomer shared baseball MVP honors at Fairfield High School and now they will continue to share the same field as college teammates.

The Newcomers have both committed to continue their academic and baseball careers at Manchester College in North Manchester, beginning with the 2012-13 school year.

Zach Newcomer led coach Brodie Garber’s Falcons with a .398 batting average and 27 runs batted in.

Brad Newcomer had team highs with 11 stolen bases and eight doubles and was also 5-1 on the mound with a team-leading 1.15 earned run average.

The Newcomers play travel baseball for the Indiana Chargers.

Rick Espeset is the head coach at Manchester. The NCAA Division III Spartans are coming off a 2012 season in which they went 28-21 overall and 14-11 in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference.
