Elkhart Club Football: Elkhart Club Football will hold sign-up and informational meetings for its Elkhart Eagles high school team on July 9 and 17. The meetings will take place at 6 p.m. in Room 107 at Elkhart Christian Academy. Registration is open to students in grades 9-12 who attend ECA, are home-schooled or are students attending a high school that does not offer football. Cost is $175. Players will be required to provide a copy of their birth certificate at the meeting and will need a completed physical form prior to participating in practices. Concord camp: The Concord football camp for grades 4-8 is planned for July 9-12. Grades 4-6 will meet from 10 a.m. to noon and grades 7-8 from 1 to 3 p.m. Cost is $35. Concord Football League: CFL practice starts in July. Registration and equipment pickup will begin today, July 5, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. (for Concord High School campers only) and 5 to 7 p.m. July 12-19 for everyone else. Kerry’s Kids & Teens Try-Athlon: The eighth annual swim-bike-run event sponsored by the Goshen Parks and Recreation Department is scheduled for July 14 at Shanklin Park. Ages 5-12 will swim 25 meters, bike 1.2 miles and run half of a mile. Ages 13-18 will swim 75 meters, bike 1.2 miles and run 3.1 miles. Cost is $25 through Friday. For more information call 534-2901.
Eagle Lake Triathlon: The third annual event starts and finishes Aug. 4 at Eagle Lake Marine in Edwardsburg, Mich. The “short sprint” option involves an 800-yard swim, 17.1-mile bike and 5.1-mile run. The “long sprint” entails a 200-yard swim, 6.9-mile bike and 1.4-mile run. There are relay options for both courses. Each athlete receives a tech shirt and is invited to the post-race barbecue. Proceeds benefit Life Treatment Centers. 3-for-3 Triathlon: The inaugural 3-for-3 Triathlon is set for Aug. 26 in South Bend, and it entails an optional and free eight-week training program that began June 26. The event will benefit the Center for the Homeless, YMCA of Michiana Inc. and the Alcohol & Addictions Resource Center. There is a kayaking option for those ages 16 and older who prefer that to the swim portion. For ages 16 and older, the course features a 200-yard swim (or the kayaking), 10-mile bike and 2.5-mile run. Ages 12-15 will swim 100 yards, bike 3 miles and run half of a mile. Those younger than 12 will swim 50 yards, bike three miles and run half of a mile. Cost is $40 for adults and $20 for youths before Aug. 1. A late fee applies after that date. Central camp: New Central High School head boys basketball head coach Troy Noble, his coaching staff and current and former players will conduct a camp for grades 3-8 July 9-13 at Central. Grades 3-6 will meet daily from 8 to 9:30 a.m. for $30 and grades 7-8 will meet from 10 a.m. to noon daily for $40. All campers receive a T-shirt. ESC Elite summer camp: Elkhart Sports Center, in partnership with ESC Elite, will offer another basketball day camp for boys and girls entering grades 3-8. Fairfield camp: Grades 2-8 for the 2011-12 school year are welcome July 9-13 in the Fairfield High School wrestling room — 1 to 2:30 p.m. daily for grades 2-5 and 3 to 4:30 p.m. daily for grades 6-8. Road Runs
Rieth Training Runs: The annual Rieth 5K Training Runs are continuing at 6:30 p.m. Tuesdays through Aug. 28. Sign-ins start at 5:45 p.m. at the tent in the area by the Rieth Interpretive Center. Access is off Plymouth Avenue south of Shanklin Park in Goshen. A donation of $1 per run or $10 for the season is requested.
