Five vie for Bristol Homecoming queen title

BRISTOL — Five teens with ties to the Bristol community are entered in the Bristol Homecoming Queen Pageant, which begins at 7 p.m. today, July 5, at Bristol United Methodist Church, 201 S. Division Street.

Contestants had to be 15 to 19 years old and live in Bristol or have a parent or grandparent who lives in Bristol or attends church in Bristol.

Tickets to the pageant are $3 and will be available at the door. For more information contact Toni Miller at 612-7946.

The contestants are:

Katie Price, 18, is the daughter of Chuck and Martha Price. She is a graduate of Elkhart Central High School. She was a member of the Superintendent Student Advisory Council for three years, Peers for three years and the Digital Media Club for four years. She also played soccer for four years and basketball for two years. She volunteered at Breakfast with Santa for two years, served food at Faith Mission, volunteered at Memorial Hospital and helped at the Bristol Elementary Fun Fair. She enjoys baking, traveling, four wheeling and horseback riding. She would like to become a hair stylist and start a nonprofit organization where underprivileged cancer patients can get a wig for no cost. She is sponsored by Bristol O’Hair Port.

Sara Anderson, 18, is the daughter of Deron and Angela Anderson. She is a graduate of White Pigeon High School. She was a member of the National Honor Society, student council and treasurer of Interact. She volunteered two summers at Camp Lutherwald and coached elementary and middle school volleyball. Her hobbies include baking, volleyball, basketball and piano. Her ambition is to be happy through life and end up with a job she loves, probably having to do with math. She is sponsored by the Bristol Fire Department.

Krista Rapp, 15, is the daughter of Chad and Tina Rapp. She attends Memorial High School, where she is a member of Students Against Drunk Driving, the pep club and the choir. She enjoys volleyball and shopping. She would like to become a police officer. She is sponsored by Kruse Farm Supply.

Makayla Huddleston, 15, is the daughter of Michael and Tressa Huddleston. She attends Elkhart Central High School, where she is a member of Key Club and the Blazer Brigade Marching Band. She is in her seventh year of 4-H and involved in her church youth group. She volunteered at Feed the Children with Key Club. She plays volleyball, basketball and runs track. She plans to attend Indiana University at Bloomington to study pediatrics. She is sponsored by Erie Insurance.

Victoria Marian-Amariutei, 17, is the daughter of Janice Gural. She is a member of the 4-H Bristol Boosters, Elkhart Civic Theatre, the Jag Program and 21st Century Scholars. She will be a senior at the Tipton Life Center. She has taught vacation Bible school for the last five years. She enjoys cooking, doing Dorothy Gale impersonations and shopping, but her favorite thing is to sing in musical theater and opera. She wants to earn an undergraduate degree in vocal performance and a master’s degree in operatic performance. She is sponsored by Camille’s Floral and Gift.
