INDIANAPOLIS — Ten local high school basketball players have been selected to participate in the 10th annual IBCA/IHSAA Underclass Showcase events later this month.

Staged by the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association, the two-day event is designed to give the top prospects from across the state exposure to colleges around the country.

Markese McGuire (Memorial), Demetrius Jackson (Marian), Nate Ritchie (Northridge), Samuel Stegelmann (Goshen), Leo Svete (Penn), Zach Zurcher (NorthWood), Olivia Carlton (Penn), Taylor Lutz (Penn), Morgan Olson (NorthWood) and Aimee Swihart (Goshen) have been invited to the showcase.

The 2012 Boys Showcase will be on July 19 and is NCAA certified. The 2012 Girls Showcase takes place the following day on July 20. Both events are scheduled from 2 to 8 p.m. at Ben Davis High School in Indianapolis.

In 2011, coaches from 92 colleges across the country — including Division I programs like Indiana, Notre Dame, Purdue, Michigan and Michigan State — were in attendance.
