Indiana regional banks approve merger

FRANKLIN — Shareholders of Heartland Bancshares, Inc., has approved the merger agreement with Horizon Bancorp. The financial institutions expect the merger will be closed and become effective around July 17.

Horizon Bancorp. is based in Michigan City and has a branch in both Elkhart and Goshen. Heartland is headquartered in Franklin but has no presence in Elkhart County.
