Suspect in Cass County stabbing death found in Elkhart

EDWARDSBURG, Mich. — A 59-year-old man who eluded Cass County Sheriff’s deputies after a homicide was found in Elkhart and arrested Friday evening.

Edward J. Hensley was named as a person of interest following the discovery of a woman who had been fatally stabbed. Officers found the woman, Martha Sexton of 19643 U.S. 12, when they responded to a call at 1:30 p.m. Friday.

The Cass County Sheriff’s office said Sexton and Hensley are brother and sister and had been living at the U.S. 12 address, east of Five Points Road in Mason Township, for approximately 10 days.

About 9:30 p.m. Friday, the Cass County Sheriff’s Office announced that Elkhart police had arrested Hensley, who has been charged with murder. He awaits extradition to Cass County.
