JONES, Mich. — Carol Ivens, 74, of Jones, died Saturday, June 16, 2012, at Timbers of Cass County in Dowagiac.

She was born Dec. 23, 1937, to Chelsea and Eva (Pompey) Bryant in Dowagiac. She married Kermit Ivens on June 21, 1957, in Cassopolis. On Thursday, June 21, 2012, Kermit and Carol would have celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Barbara Ann Nichols and Wanda Wares; and two brothers, Richard Bryant and Gordon Bryant.

She liked going to garage sales and playing cards. She enjoyed spending time and playing with her grandchildren. She and her husband would often just sit in the yard and listen to the birds.

Carol will be missed by family and friends. She is survived by her husband, Kermit Ivens of Jones; three daughters, Victoria (Ronald, Sr.) Christopher of South Bend, Ind., Kelley Ivens of Cassopolis and Angela (James) Pompey; three sons, Kermit Duane Ivens of Lady Lake, Fla., Edward Ivens of Jones and Randall (Regina) Ivens of Jones; 12 grandchildren, Tilyne (Kevin) Prater of Cassopolis, Ronnie (Jessica) Christopher Jr. of Cassopolis, Shane Ivens of Elkhart, Ind., Michael Ivens of Elkhart, Ricki McNary of Dowagiac, R.C. Ivens of Elkhart, B. J. Baucom of Kalamazoo, Kirk Baucom of South Bend, Talina Baucom of Dowagiac, Kaylin Ivens of Cassopolis, Aaryn Gilliam of Cassopolis and Aleighah Ivens of Cassopolis; 19 great-grandchildren; brothers Dale (Yvonne) Bryant of Benton Harbor and Paul Bryant of Covert; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will gather from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 22, 2012, at Connelly Chapel Wagner Family Funerals, 202 N. Broadway St., Cassopolis. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 23, 2012, at the funeral home with the Rev. Jerri Porter officiating. Mrs. Ivens will be laid to rest in Poe Cemetery, Jones.
