Elisa Horton and Dustin Saylor have each pleaded guilty to a felony charge of assisting a criminal for their roles in the death of a Goshen man.

Horton, 22, of 415 Noble Court, Goshen, and Saylor, 22, of 410 Noble Court, Goshen, were arrested following the death of John Staub March 22. Three other people were injured on the night Staub died.

Horton’s plea, entered in Superior Court 2 on Monday, would place a cap on Horton’s sentence of four years in prison. Saylor’s plea agreement would be for two years in prison, two years on work release if he’s eligible and two years on probation.

Prosecutors had initially charged Horton and Saylor with a criminal gang enhancement charge, but dropped them when they pleaded guilty.

Horton is scheduled for sentencing on July 16, while Saylor’s sentencing will be July 30.

Daniel Heflin, 21, of 415 Noble Court, Goshen, and William Terry, 25, of 622 River Ave., Goshen, were also arrested for their involvement in the shooting. Heflin was charged with murder, attempted murder and conspiracy to commit murder, all felonies that carry a maximum of 50 years in prison. Terry was charged with conspiracy to commit murder.

Heflin and Terry are scheduled for trial Aug. 20 in Elkhart Circuit Court.
