BRISTOL — Having admitted more than 1,000 animals over the last two months, the Humane Society of Elkhart County needs donations to feed them.

The humane society’s food storage warehouse is down to the last few skids of dog, cat, kitten and puppy food, according to a press release from the humane society.

Assistant Director Rachel Dennis said the “kitten and puppy season” has hit the organization harder than usual this year.

The humane society will accept donations of Purina brand dog, cat, kitten and puppy food as well as any brand of canned wet cat food; however, monetary donations are preferred, according to the humane society. The storage space is small, and monetary donations will allow the humane society to replenish the food in the warehouse as needed.

Donations or food items may be dropped off at the Humane Society of Elkhart County, 54687 C.R. 19, Bristol, from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. Monetary donations may also be made on line by visiting the Pay Pal button at www.elkharthumanesociety.org.
