EDWARDSBURG, Mich. — Marie E. Truex, 87, of Edwardsburg, died Saturday, June 16, 2012, at her home, surrounded by her family.
She was born Sept. 9, 1924, to William and Susie (Russell) Teal in Anson County, N.C. She married Devon J. “Bud” Truex on May 3, 1946, in Rockingham, N.C.
He preceded her in death March 12, 2009. She was also preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Dorothy Shankle and Colleen Campbell; and one brother, Grady Teal.
Marie was a 4-H leader for years, having started the Jefferson Center 4-H Club. She enjoyed gardening, sewing and crafts. She was a member of Dailey Church, where she served as financial secretary, sang in the choir and served in the Ladies Aide.
Marie will be missed by family and friends. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Carol and James Bowman of Edwardsburg; her son and daughter-in-law, Devon J. Jr. and Sue Truex; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and sisters Ethel Willoughby of Rockingham and Zietta Hatcher of Cordova, N.C.
Family and friends will gather from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 20, 2012, at Connelly Chapel Wagner Family Funerals, 202 North Broadway St., Cassopolis. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 21, 2012, at Dailey Church, 27046 Dunning St., Dailey. The Rev. Dr. David Waid will officiate. Mrs. Truex will be laid to rest beside her late husband in Mission Hills Memorial Gardens, Sumnerville.
