Reverse-angle parking beginning in section of Goshen today
Reverse-angle parking will be offered for approximately two months, according to Mary Cripe, Goshen city engineer, and is limited to the parking spots on the north side of east Jefferson Street, between Main Street and the alley beside the Goshen City Chamber of Commerce.
Reverse-angle parking allows drivers to back in to angled parking spots and then pull out front-first when exiting the spot. It's safer than head-in angle parking and parallel parking, Cripe said.
Drivers need to signal a right turn, then drive past the parking spot and stop, Cripe explained, then back into the parking spot.
Information on reverse-angle parking will be offered on the city's website at www.goshenindiana.org, Facebook page and, hopefully, at an information box near the parking spots, Cripe said. People can give feedback through the Facebook page or by contacting the city engineering office at engineering@goshencity.com or 534-2201.
