ELKHART — A 5-year-old Elkhart girl was found dead in her home Sunday morning.

The girl’s parents called emergency units to the 59000 block of C.R. 1 just after 9 a.m. for their daughter, who was unconscious and not breathing.

According to the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department, there appears to have been no foul play involved. Officials, still waiting on testing results, believe the girl may have died as a result of complications from a previous injury or illness.
