Search warrant yields two arrests at Elkhart apartment Wednesday

ELKHART — Two people were arrested after police executed a search warrant on an Elkhart apartment Wednesday afternoon.

Officers from the Drug Unit, Uniform Division and Community Affairs Bureau conducted the search warrant at 1212 Midtown Court, Apt. 84, around 5 p.m. following a short-term drug investigation, according to a press release from the Elkhart Police Department. Officers found drug paraphernalia and a stolen handgun.

Three children were removed from the home and released to a family member.

Arrested were:

• Chelsey A. Nusbaum, 24, of Elkhart, was arrested on preliminary felony charges of maintaining a common nuisance and neglect of a dependent;

• Hervey Clanton Jr., 24, of Elkhart, was arrested on preliminary felony charges of dealing cocaine, possession of stolen property, being a serious violent felon in possession of a handgun, maintaining a common nuisance and neglect of a dependent, according to police.
