GOSHEN — The fruits of Goshen’s community branding initiative will soon become visible, with banners going up near Goshen College, at IU Health Goshen Hospital and downtown as the first public signs of the community’s new “brand.”
The banners will feature a new look for the city’s name and some will also feature the new tag line for Goshen: “Common Good. Uncommonly Great.”
It’s the first peek at the branding effort, which started in late 2010 when the Goshen Chamber of Commerce contracted with North Star Destination Strategies to develop a unified face for all advertising and promotion of the city.
The banners are the first step in a roll-out that will take place over time, according to David Daugherty of the Goshen Chamber of Commerce.
On behalf of Goshen College, Richard Aguirre got permission Monday from the Goshen Board of Public Works to hang up the new banners, along with college banners, along College Avenue.
Daugherty said Monday, “There’s a plan to put them in the hospital parking lot, in that area there, and possibly downtown on First Friday, kind of a co-branding downtown.”
The unveiling of the new look comes a little earlier than Daugherty guessed three weeks ago.
It’s all part of a marketing effort to help attract businesses and workers to the Maple City, though there’s not a Maple leaf to be seen on the banners.
