ELKHART — Renovations at the Elkhart Public Library are finally finished and the public is invited to help celebrate.

On Friday and Saturday, the EPL will hold open houses to unveil the revamped facilities available to patrons.

Friday’s festivities will be business-focused and feature a ribbon-cutting ceremony with Mayor Dick Moore and ambassadors of the Greater Elkhart Chamber of Commerce.

Business professionals are invited to explore the building and learn how the library can be utilized to assist in the success of the business community.

From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., library staffers will demonstrate online business resources to which the library subscribes for EPL cardholders. There will be a drawing for a free Barnes and Noble Nook e-reader, and gourmet hot dogs from Dogs for Dollars will be available.

The public is invited to Saturday’s 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. open house. Children’s activities will include story time with Mr. Chuck, a scavenger hunt and juggling with Wicked Jester Entertainment. There will also be Nintendo Wii gaming for teens and tweens, and information about family history resources will be available.

There will also be a drawing for a Nook on Saturday as well as drawings for free books every 15 minutes.

Both days will also feature demonstrations of library resources, such as OverDrive’s e-Book and eAudiobook downloads, special tours, displays and drawings for other prizes. Refreshments will be served by the Friends of the Elkhart Public Library.

For more information about the open houses call library director Deborah Stewart at 522-3333 or visit www.myepl.org.
