A man was thrown from his mo-ped in a collision with two cars today, May 3.

The crash took place in the area of 2900 block of Peddlers Village Road near the entrance to the Peddler’s Auction property.

According to witnesses and drivers, a 2000 Volkswagen Beetle driven by Annetta Harrington, 92, exited to the west from the private drive of the Peddler’s Auction property and pulled in front of the mo-ped. The mo-ped driver, Stephen C. Kucela Sr., 65, was unable to prevent colliding with the rear left fender of the Beetle.

The mo-ped glanced off of the Beetle and into oncoming traffic. The mo-ped and its driver then collided with an eastbound 2001 Ford Escape driven by Jesus Nunez, 44. Kucela was thrown from his mo-ped and rolled along the center of the roadway.

Kucela was treated by Goshen paramedics and airlifted to Memorial Hospital of South Bend. He is listed in fair condition.

Harrington reported to be uninjured, while Nunez reported non-incapacitating pain. He was attended by paramedics and transported to the hospital for treatment.
