An anonymous couple has donated $1,000 for the Goshen Clay Artists Guild to support its next Empty Bowl event.

The Empty Bowl is an annual event in which participants can get a bowl of soup in a hand-crafted bowl. Proceeds go to the Interfaith Hospitality Network in Goshen. Potters from the guild make bowls and local restaurants provide soup for the event, with people taking home their bowls. More than 800 people attended this past February’s event.

The couple wrote in their letter to the guild, “We’ve enjoyed this event for many years, as well as our growing collection of beautiful soup bowls we use often.”

The Goshen Clay Artists Guild will hold pottery sales from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.

The guild offers pottery classes for adults with its next session starting June 18. For information go to www.goshenclayguild.com.
