NEW YORK - Michael Floyd is trading his navy and gold for cardinal, white and black.

The former Notre Dame receiver landed with the Arizona Cardinals in the first round of the NFL Draft Thursday night, making him the 13th pick overall.

Floyd is the third Notre Dame player since 2000 to be drated in the first round and the first Irish receiver selected in the opening round since Tim Brown was chosen sixth overall by the LA Raiders in 1988.

Floyd’s draft stock had fluccuated in recent months, boosted by impressive performances at the NFL Combine and Notre Dame’s Pro Day but hindered by teams’ concerns surrounding his three alcohol-related run-ins with the law while with the Irish.

Floyd finished with 271 catches for 3,868 receving yards and 38 touchdowns in four years at Notre Dame.
