Elkhart firefighter gets 10-day suspension
The Elkhart Board of Public Safety on Tuesday suspended Eric Miller, upholding the recommendation of Assistant Fire Chief Shaun Edgerton. In a memo, Edgerton said Miller failed to submit the required paperwork necessary to take family medical leave and, as a result, did not report to a scheduled work assignment on April 7.
In missing work, Miller violated several rules, according to the memo, including rules related to conduct and obedience to superiors. “Mr. Miller’s conduct was certainly unbecoming of a firefighter,” Fire Chief Mike Compton said at Tuesday’s meeting.
