BOURBON — A Nappanee man died in a single-vehicle accident shortly after 6 a.m. Thursday on Beech Road, north of Bourbon.

Louis J. Cady, 75, was southbound on Beech in a 1998 Ford F-150 pickup truck when he apparently drove off the east side of the road and into a ditch that contained about 6 inches of water, according to Indiana State Police.

Cady’s truck rolled and came to rest on its roof after sliding down a steep embankment. A passerby noticed tire tracks that left the road and notified police.

Marshall County Coroner William Cleavenger pronounced Cady dead at the scene.

Preliminary autopsy results showed that Cady drowned, Cleavenger said later Thursday.
