BRISTOL — If you write or have thought about writing, the Soul Ink writers group may be the group for you.

“Writing can be a complex and lonely art,” said a group leader, Desiree Fischer, program director for the Bristol Washington Township Public Library. “Connecting with others who share your passion might just be what you need to start, finish or publish your project.”

Soul Ink meets the first and third Wednesday evening of the month at the library and will be one year old in January.

“The group is a nice mix, and it’s a really fun time,” said member RoseMary McDaniel. “Everyone is in different stages with writing.”

Writers of all ages are welcome to the group. Participants are encouraged to share something they are working on. “You learn a lot about your own writing by listening and giving feedback to others,” said Fischer, whose genre is teen fiction. She is working on her first novel.

“This group encouraged me to commit my family’s stories to writing so they won’t be lost for the younger generations in our family,” said Linda Schrock. She compiled a large notebook full of family stories, photos and documents and made copies to give her sisters and each of their children for Christmas.

Member Betty Arnold launched a website, crystalwhimsey.com, for her children’s stories about garden fairies and other enchanted creatures.

“I started coming last January, and it inspired me to pick up my long delayed writing career and go with digital publishing,” said McDaniel. She has seven e-books on Feedbooks.com, one at the Barnes and Noble Nookbook online store, and another on Amazon under the pen name Amy Hale.

“I’m most proud that we don’t have the same six or seven people that come all the time. It’s a very fluid group,” said library director, Daryl Schrock.
