 An excavator travels in a section of U.S. 20 to be widened, just west of S.R. 15, on March 23, 2014. Some local officials have touted construction of a bypass just east of this road section that would lead to the Indiana Toll Road, but a state panel in a July 9, 2014, report nixed the idea, at least in the near term.

 Food donations can be brought to Jerry's Standard on the northeast corner of Main and Warren streets between 5 and 8 p.m. Friday, July 18, 2014, during Middlebury Third Fridays. The Middlebury Fire Department will fill an ambulance with food as part of the Elkhart County 4-H Fair's All In food drive.  They will attempt break the Guinness World Record for the largest single-day food drive.
