Though award-winning recorder Jerry Weaver improved his office’s efficiency and reduced spending, voters booted him out in May. It raises questions about how informed voters are, some say.

Also, Walorski is running a website critical of Bock and a proposed Rochester debate in the race is off.

 The Great Recession hit Elkhart County hard, very hard. The numbers show that by some measures, it's impact was unprecedented, dating at least back to 1990.

The toll road operators recently filed for bankruptcy protection, due in part to impacts of the recession.

A court document in the recent bankruptcy filing sheds additional light on toll road operations and the bankruptcy filing.

 There are more ads and more barbs in the U.S. House race between Rep. Jackie Walorski and challenger Joe Bock. This is a screen shot from Bock's latest ad, which alludes to Walorski's role in the federal government shutdown last year. Walorski and other House GOPers pushed to defund or pare back Obamacare as part of a continuing spending resolution and Democrats rebuffed the moves, leading to the Oct. 1-16 shutdown.
